Hank Garner of the Low Carb Journey podcast (click to subscribe) and fantastic new blog asked me to participate as a success story for his new podcast. I was honored to say the least, and I’d be lying to say I wasn’t a bit nervous. It is completely different being in front of the camera, educating or sharing a recipe or fact amongst friends than perhaps speaking extemporaneously about one’s successful weight loss. Hank was a great host and kept the conversation flowing. I listened to the release today, and of course I cringed at everytime I said “Umm…” or stumbled over word selection.
That’s the other big difference between what I do (produce low carb videos) and someone producing a relatively live or unedited show. I can take many and sometimes many many takes as I work through all my flubs or stumbling through the videos. Hopefully most of those edits are relatively innocuous to the viewers of my videos, but with an edited show, the conversational aspect is king. It’s definitely a skill I don’t practice a lot as work my talking is technical as well, which would be more similar to a recipe video than a TV show.
I can only hope Hank’s listeners are charitable and know that next week’s interviewee will be better.
If you have suggestions for whom Hank should interview next, be sure to submit them to him on this blog post.

Kent, I can truly say that it was an honor to have you on the show and I was the one that was nervous getting to ask one of my heroes the questions I had always wanted. That is the coolest thing about this whole Internet thing. People from different places and walks of life making friendships. Thanks for everything you do!
I hear you about the friendships. I think low carb community from all different aspects (paleo, strict Atkins, general low carb’ers) can all benefit from the sharing. I think it’s also a credit to the leaders who have been in the community for a long time and shared their stories that many of us like myself were left with great examples to follow.
Sure we had our community members out to make strictly a dollar like a Kimmer (ala Kimkins), but by and large most in the community are ready and willing to share their recipes, tips, and advice.
